MTA Training
MTA Training was established in 2025 to support delivery of new Victorian Heavy Rail Signalling Courseware.
The courseware has been developed by the Victorian Infrastructure Delivery Authority with input from both Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) and V/Line. The courses cover both Network Signalling Design and Testing requirements and adoption of the National Signalling Assessment Framework, introduced by the Australasian Railway Association.
MTA Training provides information for employers and prospective Signalling Designers and Testers on all courses, course calendar, course booking and refund services, complaints and appeals and frequently asked questions.
Our Courses
MTA delivers short courses to Signalling Designers and Testers wishing to work for MTM and V/Line.
The courses provide different pathways to support existing RIW Cardholders wishing to transition to a National Signalling Design and Tester role, RIW Cardholders wising to upskill themselves and progress their careers, and RIW Cardholders from other jurisdictions wishing to work in Victoria.

Advanced Signalling Technology
This course recognises RIW Cardholder’s with a valid MTM or V/Line Signal Principles Design Engineer who are transitioning to a Signalling Principles Designer – National Job Role.
Advanced Signalling Technology
